Of typical form, the domed foot chased with a band of fruit and strap-work below a dog-tooth rim, the neck engraved with a band of drapery swags, snails, birds and insects, the hinged domed cover chased with conforming fruit, strapwork and lion and female masks and with winged mermaid form thumbpiece, the baluster finial issuing from a reeded spool-form calyx, the interior of the box hinge pricked with the initials IV over M, the back of the hinge with traces of pricked initials, pricked under the base with scratch weight X oz ii dwt, fully marked under foot, on neck and on cover (body with hairline cracks)--10in.
