Plates in photogravure, halftone, color halftone, collotype and letterpress of works by Alfred Stieglitz, Eduard J. Steichen, Paul Strand, Clarence H. White, Julia Margaret Cameron, Gertrude Käsebier, Heinrich Kühn, Alvin Langdon Coburn, Frederick H. Evans, Baron Adolph DeMeyer and others. Includes reproductions of works by artists exhibited by Stieglitz at '291' such as Picasso, Cezanne, Matisse, Rodin, Marin and De Zayas. 4tos.

This single owner set has remained in pristine condition with nearly all covers, spines and bindings intact. All pages are near excellent with little soiling, creasing, water damage or foxing and all plates are in near excellent condition. Due to its fine condition, we will view this set by appointment only. Plate I (Number 25) and plate IV (Number 26) have been switched. Numbers 42/43 are lacking plate IX.

Ira Martin was a student of the Clarence H. White School and later the president of the Pictorial Photographers of America. At the time of World War II he became the head photographer of the Frick Art Reference Library. See also: Lot 298.
