The arms are those of Cooper of Markree Castle, Collooney, co. Sligo. The Rt. Hon. Joshua Cooper, of the Privy Council of Ireland, married Alicia, only daughter and heiress of Edward Synge. His eldest son, also Joshua, married Elizabeth, daughter of Robert Lindsay and died without issue in 1837.
