Daniel Smith and Robert Sharp are well-known as the makers of two celebrated toilet services in the same style, one made for the Queen of Sweden in 1779, and the other, known as the Westmorland Service (see lot 298), made in 1783, but this appears to be the earliest example of the use of purely Adam motifs on a box of this form.
