A RARE MING BLUE AND WHITE LOBED JAR
ENCIRCLED JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

Painted in inky-blue tones to each of the six rounded sides with pairs of birds perched on ornamental rockwork alternating with pairs of mandarin ducks swimming in a lotus pond beneath sparrows in flight, the shoulders painted with alternating phoenix and dragons, below the straight neck and lipped rim painted with a classic scroll, the base encircled by a band of stiff lotus leaves (body crack, small chips, rim possibly polished)--10in. (25.3cm.) high
