a plaque on the horizontal plate stamped PETER GIBAUT 1986, the brass Sun ball at the centre with sunburst surround, on a vertical rod with planet balls for six planets up to Saturn, and the Earth's Moon ball, held atop the horizontal plate over a multi-wheeled geared mechanism, within two colures with decorative finial, graduated on both sides, also with equatorial band graduated in degrees on the inner side and with the names of the months on the outside, and with an ungraduated steel ecliptic ring and an ecliptic band fixed at the opposing angle showing the names of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the horizontal steel hour and minute dials beneath above a further two-drum wheeled and geared mechanism surrounded by four decorative scrolled bars, on a baluster-turned column and plinth base, on a turned mahogany plinth, the underside recessed to house the turning key, with glass dome -- 17½in. (44.5cm.) high
