Painted in grisaille with figures painted in warmer flesh tones; the inside of the bowl depicting scenes from the life of Hercules and Bacchanalian scenes on the underside; the foot with scenes from Juno's triumphal procession.
Elements lacking with others reconfigured.

The Italian Mannerist style seems to have dictated, to a large degree, the stylistic and iconographical programmes of the Limoges workshops via its influence on the French school of Fontainbleau.

Pierre Reymond was one of the most recognised enamellers in Limoges during the mid-16th century. His work is best recognised by the fine draughtsmanship, the use of fleshtones to enliven figures, and elaborate decorative bands.

This particular example appears to have been altered, with the lid having been turned and converted into a bowl. A very similar example (see Caroselli, loc. cit.) demonstrates how the decoration on the inside of this bowl is extremely close to that of the lid in the Los Angeles County Museum example.
