The Ankas' enthusiasm for wine dates to the early 1970's, at which time they began purchasing great European wines. The wines were maintained in ideal temperature-controlled conditions in their home in Carmel, and later moved to their new home in Beverly Hills. The primary focus of their collection is on Bordeaux; the Ankas also enjoy fine Champagne, Burgundy, and California wine. Paul Anka, composer, singer, and actor, is one of the most widely acclaimed and recorded performers in popular musical history. His extraordinary career was launched in the 1950's, when at the age of sixteen he recorded the hit song "Diana," which sold over 20 million copies. By the age of 18 he had five Top-20 hits. His most famous song, "My Way," was composed for Frank Sinatra; other early hits included "Put Your Head On My Shoulder," "You Are My Destiny," "Lonely Boy," and "Puppy Love." Anka composed the musical introduction to "The Tonight Show," perhaps the most famous TV theme song ever written, as well as theme music for the movies "The Longest Day," "No Way Out," and "Atlantic City." Anka continued to turn out hit songs throughout the 1970's and 1980's, including "I Don't Want To Sleep Alone," "One-Man Woman," and "Hold Me 'Til The Morning Comes." More remarkable than Anka's enduring popularity is his continuing energy and creativity. He maintains a busy schedule of performances, and recently released his 123rd album through Sony/Epic. At home, the Ankas have raised five daughters-Amelia, Anthea, Alicia, Amanda, and Alexandra-and were recently blessed by the birth of their second grandchild.
