An Italian Bronze relief plaque
19th Century
Depicting the scene of Thetis pleading with her son Achilles to allow the Trojans to bury their hero Hector, with various printed labels to the reverse including '17/9/.. Colman Colln. S.31' and one damaged label 'Eu..phorpoulos Collection'

In the introduction to R. L. Hobson's catalogue of The George Eumorfopoulos Collection, London, 1925, George Eumorfopoulos explained that he had started in 1891 as a collector of English and Continental porcelain, but soon afterwards disposed of this collection and started his celebrated collection of Chinese porcelain.

Related plaques are incorporated in a 19th Century chimneypiece at Mere Hall, Cheshire.
