One-tiered tubular telescope with reeded gold mounts, the body inset with three oval slightly convex enamel plaques painted en grisaille with the Muses Calliope, Urania and Clio on brown grounds, surrounded by concentric wavy translucent blue and opaque white enamel stripes, the upper and lower borders engraved with reeding and enamelled in translucent green with a ribbon-twist band enclosing white enamelled shuttles, the upper part concave and tapering, the outer border enamelled in translucent blue with a ribbon-twist band enclosing white enamelled shuttles, the lens framed by translucent green enamelled leaves interspersed by white pellets
