Rectangular casket, the slightly convex cover painted with a colourful cartouche depicting a riverside scène champêtre, the four sides with rural landscape views, on a ground of raised white scrolls and dotted diapers, engraved gilt-metal mounts with raised wavy thumbpiece, the inside later fitted with a bordeaux-red velvet tray containing a green enamelled gilt-metal mounted bodkin-case with scent-bottle incorporated in the cover, independent gilt-metal stopper, a white Birmingham enamel scent-bottle painted with flowers and with chained gilt-metal stopper, a small circular engraved silver-gilt vinaigrette with hinged enamel lid, a gold thimble with three blue enamel bands, two Swiss enamelled gold sewing étuis, one enamelled in pink and with gold paillons, containing gold scissors, gold tweezers with incorporated ear-spoon and gold-handled pencil, the other enamelled in blue and with motto in gold paillons, containing gold-handled steel scissors and two bodkins
