Sergeant Adam Holt was born in Prestwick, Lancashire and enlisted in 1812. He served in Lieutenant-Colonel The Hon. H.P. Townshend's Company in the Waterloo Campaign. Attaining the rank of Sergeant after the Campaign, he was discharged in 1821.
