The breakfront top above a frieze centred by an oblong jasperware panel depicting vestals proceeding to an altar, above a glazed door and side panels divided by fluted Ionic columns, with glazed ends, the interior with mirrored back, blue velvet-lined base and a single glass shelf, on conforming shaped base and circular tapering feet, the back with brass plate raised with a Royal coat-of-arms and stamped C. NOSOTTI/CARVER & GILDER/UPHOLSTERER & CABINET MAKER/398 & 399 OXFORD ST

Charles Andrea Nosotti is recorded as having a workshop at 2 Dean Street, Soho, London from 1835-1840. The label on the present cabinet indicates that at a later date he was operating from presumably larger premises at 398-399 Oxford Street.
