Born in Lugano, Pereda (d. 1915) studied at the Accademia in Milan under Pietrò Magni. He specialised in busts and monuments and exhibited widely in his native Switzerland, Munich, Brussels, Philadelphia and Paris (Salons 1879-80). Pereda became an honorary member of the Brera Academy and was a member of the Swiss Federal Commission of Fine Arts.
