A collection of early 19th Century domestic instructional philosophical apparatus,
by W. & S. Jones, comprising an 8in. (20.3cm.) diameter barrel electrical machine, the base with ivory label engraved W. & S. JONES, No. 30 Holborn LONDON, a pair of discharge forks with glass handle, another similar with single discharge ball, a rare electrical cannon for discharge by hydrogen gas, a lightening stool, a large leyden jar 14in. (35.6cm.) high, with zinc foil insert and mahogany cover, two smaller leyden jars mounted on mahogany bases, one with ivory label inscribed G. KNIGHT & CO. 2 Foster Lane LONDON, 14in. (35.6cm.) long, a conductor comb, a pair of bells with clapper, various discharge balls, rods and two copper plates, a mahogany stand for five spiral tubes for spark illumination (one tube missing, centre conducting rod complete but broken at base), a black-jappaned tin cylindrical conductor on glass insulating rod and turned mahogany base, the remains of a thunder house, a diamond spotted leyden jar with mahogany cap and conductor, an electrical tracking frame, the glass within a mahogany border, with handle and brass conductor 19¼in. (48.8cm.) wide, a rare polychrome-decorated carved wood hunter or shooter on stand -- 9½in. (24.1cm.) high, and a miscellaneous collection of other fragments of apparatus (A Lot)

An initial transfer and administration charge of £3.20 (Paintings) or £18.50 (Furniture/Objects) and a storage charge of £1.60 (Paintings) or £ 3.20 (Furniture/Objects) per lot per day will be payable to Cadogan Tate. These charges are subject to VAT and an insurance surcharge. Exceptionally large pictures will be subject to a surcharge.
