The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed in 1922, the year in which their self-opening patent was registered. The actions of these guns bear the inscription 'Patt. App. For' indicating, therefore, that they could be the first guns, or among the very first guns, to incorporate this famous and widely-copied design
