The mustard pot, maker's mark possibly of Hendrik Eijgman, Leiden, circa 1790, the spoon; maker's mark indistinct, 1854
Cylindrical, on three paw feet, the body pierced with vertical slats and rosette paterae, with foliate garland, the rim with rope-twist border, angular handle and foliate thumbpiece, the hinged domed cover with ribbon-tied reeded border and stiff-leaf foliage centre with cast leaf and pomegranate finial, fitted with blue glass liner, the spoon with wrigglework border and engraved with initial 'M'

The present mustard pot was made by silversmith Hendrik Eijgman, Leiden, around 1780. Eijgman became a master in 1778 and this mustard pot in Louis XVI-style may be considered one of his earliest works.
