The châeau de Neuilly, part of the domaines royale, was particularly favoured by King Louis Philippe and, during his reign (1830-48) the 'marque au feu' of the château was altered to include his initials. Sadly, following the 1848 revolution, the château de Neuilly was razed to the ground and the contents largely dispersed. Interestingly, on his abdication in February 1848, it was the title of comte de Neuilly that Louis Philippe chose to adopt.
