The arms are those of Massereen Skeffington impaling those of Donegall, for Clotworthy, 4th Viscount Massereen (d. 1738). In 1713 he married Catherine Chichester, first daughter of Arthur, 3rd Earl of Donegall and succeeded his father in 1714, the year these dishes were made.

Two fluted dishes of comparable size by Joseph Walker, 1708, sold at Christie's, New York, October 15, 1985. A pair of fluted dishes of slightly larger size, 1708, also by Joseph Walker sold at Christie's, London, April 27, 1983, lot 215.
