A PAIR OF SOLID SATINWOOD OPEN ARMCHAIRS
Each with an arched rectangular channelled back carved with flowerheads and husks above a pierced vertical splat with fluted columns, the outsplayed arms on reeded downswept supports, above a caned seat with pink, orange and ivory-striped material squab, on square tapering legs headed by flowerhead paterae, with spade feet, both chairs stamped to the underside 'FF', both inscribed in pencil 'p42', with batten carrying-holes (2)

These fluted and reeded open armchairs closely relate to a design published by A. Hepplewhite & Co. in The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, London, 3rd ed., 1794, pl. 11.
A pair of related George III satinwood armchairs was sold by Order of the Executors of the late Dowager Lady Camoys, The Dower House, Stonor, in these Rooms, 14 April 1988, lot 68.
