This sideboard with concave-fronted panels at each end, closely relates to a sketch for a sideboard table in the 1799 Estimate Sketch Book of Gillows of London and Lancaster that was supplied to Samuel Joseph, Esq. (L. Boynton (ed.), Gillow Furniture Designs 1760-1800, Royston, 1995, fig. 98, p.167). The sketch for the sideboard also has the same square tapering panelled legs headed by panels, and concave-fronted centre.
A similar sideboard with concave-fronted panels at each end, was sold anonymously in these Rooms, 14 July 1994, lot 203.
