A dressing-box and mirror-on-stand of this type at Blair Castle, Perthshire was described as a 'Union Suit' in the early 18th Century (A. Coleridge, 'John Hodson and some cabinet-makers at Blair Castle', The Connoisseur, April 1963, pp. 229-230, fig. 15).
