Jos Albert was probably the most important of the painters who grouped around Rik Wouters, generally known as the Fauves Brabançons. Albert exhibited in the final show of the Libre Esthetique in 1914. As is shown in the present lot, Albert was clearly influenced by Cézanne in choice and representation of subjects.
