A George III mahogany and satinwood banded tea caddy, last quarter 18th century
Of sarcophagus form, the canted cover rising to a rectangular plateau, with fruitwood stringing overall, the front with fan patera recessed in an oval boxwood reserve, with ivory shield escutcheon, the sides with repoussé metal plates with cornucopiae with ring handles, on four claw and ball feet, the interior with twin subsidiary covers with turned ivory handles -- 7½in. (19cm.) wide, 5¾in. (14.6cm.) high, 4¼in. (10.8cm.) deep
