2° (380 x 269mm). 24 hand-coloured lithographic plates by and after Osterwald, mounted, with lithographic captions on the mount, the mounts on paper guards. (Several guards with short tears at foot.) Later 19th-century brown morocco-backed boards by Lemardeley, gilt-lettered spine with raised bands (joints and bands rubbed), original grey paper wrappers bound in, the front wrapper with printed title. Provenance: unidentified armorial bookplate engraved by Agry, Paris; Marquess of Cambridge (ownership stamp on right hand corner of each mount); N.M. (ownership stamp on verso of each mount).
A RARE AND FINELY-EXECUTED WORK, titled on the wrapper but without letterpress, showing infantry, hussars, cuirassiers and dragoons, artillery, bandsmen, the engineer corps, gendarmerie and other members of the Royal Hanoverian Army. Colas 2257.
