AN ATTIC HEAD VASE

Molded in the form of a woman's head wearing a sakkos which is black-glazed together with the slender spout, trefoil lip, handle, and a ring at the base, the reserved face with white-painted eyes rimmed in black, with black irises and pupils, scalloped hair emerging from the sakkos which has a white border and a wreath of laurel, traces of red pigment on the hair, nostrils and lips, intact, 7 3/4in. (19.7cm.) high
