Private Mark Hodges was born near Truro, Cornwall and served in the 51st Foot for nearly 9 years. The Admission Books of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea show that he was examined by a Military Board on 5.4.1814 and granted a pension of 9d per day because he had 'Lost his left arm (below the elbow) from a wound at Vittoria' (P.R.O. WO116/15 refers).
