Private John Turner, of Tettenhall, Staffordshire, enlisted at the stated age of 17 years and died of wounds on 23.9.1917. He is buried in Wieltje Farm Cemetery.

Private William Turner of Tettenhall, Staffordshire was killed in action on 1.7.1916 on the first day of the Battle of the Somme and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. The 1/6 Staffordshires attacked from the Gommecourt sector at 7.30 on the first day and in a short time lost 239 of all ranks. A small party of 'D' Company reached the German front line but were quickly overcome.
