The design of a maiden replenishing a flaming lamp from her ewer derives from a design by Charles Percier and Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine in their Receuil de Décoration Interieurs, 1812, pl. XVIII. A similar Scandinavian clock was sold in these Rooms, 29 September 1994, lot 100.
