A fine early 20th Century 8in. radius vernier sextant by Lawrence and Mayo
the oxcidised brass frame with polished brass arc signed Lawrence & Mayo, London and numbered 7195, the inset siverred scale divided 5- 0- 160, vernier with clamp and fine screw adjustment, swivel magnifier with hinged opaque shade, two mirrors, seven shades and ebony handle, secured within fitted box by brass securing clamp, five telescopes, bubble attachment and eye shades, the lid with Kelvin & Hughes test certificate dated 1953 with instrument instructions, together with letter addressed to Third Officer C. Macardie, S.S. "MAIDAN" -- 12in. (30.5cm.) dia, securing hooks and handle
