writing on the the date of the maiden voyage, this is a "chatty" and amusing letter which discusses a variety of topics including the incident with the New York on departure; the amount of aristocrats and some of the famous passengers: ...our most distinguished passengers seem to be W.T. Stead, W.W. [sic] Astor, Chas. M Hays, and E.P. Colley, Oh & the Countess of something, also the eating arrangements: ...They also have a restaurant where you can pay for meals if you get bored of the ordinary grub.. together with a long dialogue on the vagaries of love.

The author was a Mr Edward Pommeroy Colley, a First Class passenger.
He did not survive.
