AN IBERIAN BRONZE "PRIEST" FIGURE
CIRCA LATE 5TH CENTURY B.C.

Depicted with a hydrocephalic head, the cap-like hair encircled with a diadem, long strands emerging before the prominent ears, the face with large almond-shaped eyes, the pupils indicated, a long straight nose, tiny incised mouth, and pointed chin, the flat body with simplified arms, the fingers incised, wearing a tunic with incised folds and ornamented neckline, the large feet protruding below,2 3/4in. (7cm.) high
