For a similar example see Neil K. Davey, Netsuke: A Comprehensive Study Based on the M.T. Hindson Collection (London, 1974), cat. no. 99. According to Ohara Mitsuhiro's well-known autobiographical essay Takarabukuro [Treasure Sack, 1838] he was born in Onomichi, Bingo province (Hiroshima prefecture) but was sent east to Osaka at an early age to make a living from ivory carving1.
