Unequal Love

This derives from von Aachen's signed picture, on panel, in the Staatliche Kunsthalle, Karlsruhe. Another autograph version is in the Obrosterreichisches Landesmuseum, Linz, on loan from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (see T. DaCosta Kaufmann, L'Ecole de Prague. La Peinture la Cour de Rodolphe II, 1985, pp.192-3, nos.1-33 and 1-34). An autograph variant was sold at Christie's, London, 11 December 1987, lot 23.
