Three autograph letters, signed, from Richey Edwards [n.d. but circa 1988-90] to Wayne Morris of Lazy Records and an autograph note, the note and two of the letters on Manic Street Preachers, 15 St. Tudor's View, Blackwood, Gwent... headed paper, the letters concerning the Manic Street Preachers' desperation to sign with a 'decent' label and to play with groups they admire, specifically Birdland whose style they empathise with... Manic Street Preachers belong with Birdland. The Pistols needed The Clash..., 3pp. [Birdland were signed to Lazy Records in 1988 before moving to MCA in 1990], the letters also reflect Edwards' dissatisfaction with the music industry...we got interviewed by Bob Stanley from Melody Maker but I don't think he understands us...He said we're too energetic on stage and should learn to play some jazz chords. We say learn to HATE not learn chords..., despairing about hearing ...the sound of averageness everywhere...I'm fed up with playing with poxy bands. Save us. Save us. Save us...; the note decorated with press clippings and hand-written quotes in Edwards' hand echoing the words of Johnny Rotten and others (5)
