cover 1851-53, the collection of twenty-five entires or entire letters to or from Bermuda, carried by Cunard vessels during the " 'Levantine' Fiasco" (the newly built ship was acquired by Cunard in 1851 but suffered a series of debilitating problems which caused many delays and cancellations to the service), neatly mounted and researched in blue Godden De Luxe album, including eleven items carried by the 'Levantine' (with examples from the first and last sailings), the remainder carried by other vessels (mostly those employed as a result of the 'Levantine' being taken out of service), a number of scarcer markings with circular unframed "HAMILTON/BERMUDA" and "ST. GEORGES BERMUDA/PAID" datestamps in red, "IRELAND ISLE/BERMUDA" d.s. in black, handstruck "1/-" of Liverpool (two in green), etc.; mostly good to fine and a most interesting assembly
