The Reverend Carew Hervey Mary St. John Mildmay, third son of Sir Henry St. John Mildmay, was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge. He served in South Africa from 1901 to 1902 and had a parish in England until he was admitted into the Church of Rome at Westminster Cathdral in 1923.
