Burger William Albert Brown was a member of the Winburg Commando commanded by Commandant Theunissen. He fought 'van begin tot sie ende' ('from the beginning to the end', application form refers) and was present at Modderspruit, Spion Kop, Abrahaam's Kraal, Paardeberg, Botha's Pass and Ladybrand.
