Carre Tucker, like his father Henry St Geoge Tucker, served in the Bengal Civil Service. In 1830 he worked as a writer and in 1831 travelled to India. He served at Farrukhabad, Gorakhpur and at Azamgargh until his move to Allahabad in 1840. From 1853 to 1858 he was the Governor-General's Agent at Benares until retirement in 1861. Tucker published My Notebook of rules and regulations, Calcutta, 1860.
The India Office Library hold a watercolour by Tucker entitled Bishop's College, Calcutta, painted 12 March 1833 (see M. Archer, British Drawings in the India office Library, London, 1994, p. 309, no. 3759).
