Each decorated at the centre with a small circular scene depicting Jesus standing in the garden of Gethsemane approaching his sleeping disciples, below a bird crest at the rim between a floral scroll band spilling onto the well and enveloping weapons, laurels and a lyre, rim chips

This service was made for Kinross House, Scotland. A very similar pair of soup-plates was sold in these Rooms, 14 June 1976, lot 41; and a single soup-plate was sold in the same rooms, 12 March 1986, lot 185. A patty-pan with this central scene, also decorated en grisaille and gilt, but without the crest, is illustrated by F. and N. Hervout and Y. Bruneau, op.cit., 1986, p.264, fig.11.15.
