拍品专文

This portrait is datable to circa 1820. Jane Robinson, was the wife of James Law of Elvington, a surgeon and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, who also sat to Raeburn. Unfortunately the whereabouts of the portrait of James Law is unknown (see Dr. D. Mackie, unpublished Phd. thesis, Raeburn, Life and Art, A Complete Catalogue of the Artist's Work, Edinburgh, 1993, no. 459.).

We are grateful to Dr. David Mackie for his assistance in preparing this catalogue entry.
