WILLIS, THOMAS. Pharmaceutice rationalis sive diatriba de medicamentorum operationibus in humano corpore. [Oxford:] [University Press at the] Sheldonian Theatre, 1674-75. 11 folding engraved plates, with images on both recto and verso (including 2 folding). 2 vols., folio, pars secunda 4to, contemporary English rough calf, spine gilt [Vol. 1]; contemporary English mottled sheep, gilt spine (worn) [Vol. 2]. Two 4to and two folio editions of the first part of Pharmaceutice rationalis were published in 1674; the Norman copy belongs to the folio edition that was reserved for the London bookseller Robert Scott. The Sheldonian Theatre also published the second part in 4to and folio editions. Wing lists the 4to edition first, but priority is unclear. This, Willis' last published work, described the anatomy and physiology of the thoracic and abdominal organs. Wing W-2845, W-2846; Norman 2248. (2)
