An early and fine silver-gilt tankard
Maker's mark Ludwig Vicke, Breslau circa 1600
On wide spreading domed base, chased with raised fruit and stylised foliage, the slightly tapering body chased with four various coats-of-arms and lettering: D R, D R, D H and D V H, alternated by scrolling foliage, the domed cover with three cherubs, the scroll handel with caryatide ornament and caryatide thumb-piece, later baluster finial
