A large Japanese charger
decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt with numerous butterflies in flight amongst scattered flower sprays above four shaped panels of trailing foliage on an iron red ground reserved with further flowerheads and entwined leaves, the underside in underglaze blue with further foliage -- 26¾in. (68cms) diam, 19th century, (minor rubbing).
