Tignanello--Vintage 1971
Tuscany.
Levels: one bottom neck, two very top, one top shoulder. Two lightly soiled and wrinkled labels, two dampstained.
This was the first vintage for Tignanello. It is of historic significance as, commencing with Tignanello, the Antinoris began to use French oak casks, and to blend other varietals with sangiovese, practices which later spread throughout much of the Italian fine wine industry. Although Tignanello evolved into a blend of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, the first vintage was a blend of sangiovese, canaiolo nero and malvasia.
