According to Athena Spear, these figures, "are the most extreme examples of Nadelman's reduction of the human head". This type of fluid tubular nude (a plaster of which was included in the 1909 Druet exhibition) was abandoned by the artist for a more cubist style. Only three examples of this "Pea-Headed" nude are known.
