A similar cup, struck with the same mark, is in a Spanish collection and illustrated in Cristina Esteras Martín, Marcas de Platería Hispanoamericana, 1992, fig. 25, the mark illustrated as no. 350. Dr. Esteras has recognized the similarity between the mark struck on this cup and the crowned pomegranate mark found on certain silver pieces salvaged from the wreck of the Nuestra Señora de Atocha, a Spanish galleon sunk in 1622, which have been attributed to New Granada.
