The arms are those of Webster, as borne by Sir Godfrey Webster, 5th baronet, who was born in 1789. He succeeded to the title and estates on the death of his father in 1800 and married, in 1814, Charlotte, eldest daughter of Robert Adamson. He served as Cornet in the 14th and 18th Light Dragoons in the Peninsular War and sat as M.P. for Sussex 1812-1820. This salver evidently formed part of the plate purchased at the time of his coming-of-age in 1810.
