Josiah Penfield (1785-1828) was the nephew of Frederick Marquand and was in charge of Marquand's Savannah business. In 1815, Marquand left the firm to his nephew, and in 1820, Frederick Marquand Jr. joined Penfield to form Josiah Penfield & Co.
