An identical lion-mask crowned with palmettes and clenching a patinated-bronze ring in its teeth is illustrated in Ed. S. Faniel, Le Dix-Neuvième Siècle Français, Paris, 1957, p. 129 no. 7. A similar pair of wall-lights, with almost identical lion-masks, but without the palmettes, was sold anonymously at Sotheby's New York, 20 May 1992, lot 44.
